Car
If you are driving, start from Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan. Head south-east on the Ahal-Tepe highway. After approximately 40 km, take the exit toward the Köpetdag Mountains. Continue on this road for about 30 km until you reach the entrance of the national park area. From there, follow the signs towards Bugor Chash-Tepe, which is approximately another 20 km into the mountains. Make sure your vehicle is suitable for mountainous terrain, and be cautious of the road conditions as they can vary.
Public Transportation
From Ashgabat, take a shared taxi or minibus (marshrutka) heading to the Köpetdag Mountains. These can be found at the main bus station in Ashgabat. The fare is approximately 5-10 TMT per person. Inform the driver that you wish to go to Bugor Chash-Tepe. The journey will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the nearest settlement, you may need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a guide to take you the final distance to Bugor Chash-Tepe, as public transport may not reach the peak directly.
Hiking
If you're adventurous and physically fit, consider hiking from the nearest village after arriving via public transport. Ensure you have proper hiking gear and supplies. The hike will take you through beautiful landscapes, but it may take several hours to reach Bugor Chash-Tepe. It's recommended to hire a local guide for safety and to ensure you stay on the right path, which can cost around 50-100 TMT.
