Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Bukedi and head towards the main road leading to Kampala. Follow the signs for the A-104 highway. The drive will take approximately 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic. Once you reach Kampala, look for signs directing you to Lubiri Ring Road. The Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board is located at Lubiri Ring Rd, near the palace. Ensure that you have some local currency for parking fees in Kampala, which can range from 1,000 UGX to 5,000 UGX.
Public Transportation (Taxi/Matatu)
For public transportation, head to the nearest taxi park in Bukedi. Look for a taxi or matatu heading to Kampala. The fare should be around 10,000 UGX to 15,000 UGX. The journey takes about 2 to 3 hours. Upon reaching Kampala, you can take a local boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to Lubiri Ring Rd, which should cost around 5,000 UGX. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting your ride.
Boda Boda
If you are already in Kampala, you can use a boda-boda to get to the Buganda Heritage and Tourism Board. Simply tell the rider to take you to Lubiri Ring Road. The fare should be around 5,000 UGX, and the ride will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.
Walking
If you find yourself close to Lubiri Ring Rd in Kampala, you may also choose to walk. The area is generally safe during the day, but always stay aware of your surroundings. Look for local landmarks to guide you, such as the Uganda Museum which is near the Lubiri area. The walk can take around 30 minutes depending on your starting point.
