Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from Hoima, take the Hoima-Kampala Road (A109) heading north. After about 20 kilometers, turn right onto the Bunyoro Road (B1). Follow this road for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction with the Kiryandongo Road. Take a left turn and continue for about 15 kilometers. You will see signs for Bugoma Central Forest Reserve. Follow the signs for another 5 kilometers until you reach the reserve entrance. Note that you may need to pay a small entry fee, which is usually around 20,000 UGX per person.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Bugoma Central Forest Reserve using public transport, start by taking a taxi or matatu from Hoima to Kiryandongo. These taxis leave from designated taxi parks and the fare is typically around 5,000 UGX. Once you arrive in Kiryandongo, you can hire a motorcycle taxi (boda boda) to take you to Bugoma Central Forest Reserve. The boda boda ride should cost approximately 10,000 UGX and takes about 30 minutes. Make sure to confirm the price before starting your journey. Additionally, you may need to pay an entry fee to access the reserve.

  • Combination (Car and Boda Boda)

    If you are near Bunyoro and have access to a car, drive towards Kiryandongo. Park your car in a safe area in Kiryandongo town, as you will need to take a boda boda from there. The parking fee might be around 2,000 UGX for the day. Then, take a boda boda to Bugoma Central Forest Reserve, which should cost about 10,000 UGX.
