Getting There

  • Bicycle

    If you're comfortable cycling, start from the center of Entebbe. Head west on Kampala Road, then turn left onto the Ggaba Road. Continue straight until you reach the junction with the Kasanje Road. Take a right turn onto Kasanje Road. Follow the road for about 10 kilometers until you see signs for Mabamba Swamp. The entrance to the birdwatching area will be on your left.

  • Boda-Boda (Motorcycle Taxi)

    To reach Mabamba Swamp via a boda-boda, find a boda-boda station near your location in Entebbe. Inform the driver you want to go to 'Mabamba Swamp.' The driver will take you along Kampala Road, then onto Ggaba Road, and finally to Kasanje Road. The ride typically takes about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Make sure the driver knows the exact location as they are familiar with the area.

  • Walking

    Walking to Mabamba Swamp from central Entebbe is not recommended due to the distance (approximately 10 kilometers) and lack of pedestrian paths. However, if you choose to walk, head west on Kampala Road, turn left onto Ggaba Road, and then right onto Kasanje Road. Be prepared for a long walk, and consider taking a boda-boda or bicycle for convenience.

  • Public Transport (Matatu)

    To use public transport, head to the main taxi park in Entebbe. Look for a matatu heading towards Kasanje. Once you board, inform the conductor that you're going to Mabamba Swamp. The matatu will drop you off at the junction of Kasanje Road. From there, you can either walk the remaining distance (about 2 kilometers) or hire a boda-boda to take you directly to the entrance of Mabamba Swamp.
