Walking
Start by heading south on Muyenga Hill Road. Continue straight for about 1 kilometer until you reach the junction with Gaba Road. At the junction, turn right onto Gaba Road and continue walking for about 700 meters. You will pass a few local shops and eateries along the way. Keep an eye out for the road signs. Once you reach the roundabout, take the first exit onto Speke Road. Independence Monument will be on your left after approximately 500 meters.
Boda Boda (Motorcycle Taxi)
If you prefer a faster option, you can take a Boda Boda from Muyenga. Find a Boda Boda stage nearby, and negotiate the fare (typically around 5,000 to 10,000 UGX depending on the distance). Inform the rider that you want to go to Independence Monument on Speke Road. The ride will take about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic.
Public Transport (Matatu)
You can also take a Matatu (shared taxi) from Muyenga to the city center. Look for a Matatu heading towards Kampala Central; the fare is usually around 1,500 to 2,000 UGX. Get off at the 'Kampala Road' stop, and from there, you can either walk to Independence Monument (about 15 minutes) or catch a Boda Boda for a quicker option.
