Car
If you are traveling by car from Gulu, head south on the Gulu-Kampala Road (A-1). After approximately 90 km, take a left turn onto the Fort Portal Road. Continue on this road for about 70 km until you reach the town of Fort Portal. From Fort Portal, follow the signs to Kibale Forest National Park, which is about 25 km away. The road is well-maintained, but be cautious of potholes and local traffic.
Public Transportation
To reach Kibale Forest using public transportation, start by taking a bus or a shared taxi from Gulu to Fort Portal. The journey will take around 3-4 hours depending on traffic. Once in Fort Portal, you can find a local taxi or motorbike taxi (boda boda) to take you to Kibale Forest National Park, which is about 25 km from Fort Portal. Ensure you discuss and agree on the fare beforehand, which typically ranges from 30,000 to 50,000 UGS.
Boda Boda (Motorbike Taxi)
If you are in Fort Portal and prefer a quicker option, you can hire a boda boda to take you directly to Kibale Forest. Make sure to negotiate the fare (usually between 30,000 to 50,000 UGS) and confirm that the driver knows the exact location of Kibale Forest. This option is faster but be cautious and ensure you wear a helmet for safety.
