From the center of Teso, head northwest on the main road towards Soroti. Continue on this road for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction near the town of Soroti. At the junction, take a left turn onto the road towards Katakwi. Drive for about 20 kilometers until you see a sign for Achwa River. Turn right and follow the dirt road leading to the river. Be cautious as the road may be uneven and require a 4x4 vehicle. Parking is available near the riverbank.
Public Transportation (Matatu)
From any central location in Teso, board a matatu (shared taxi) heading towards Soroti. The fare may vary, typically around 10,000 UGX. Once you arrive in Soroti, transfer to a matatu heading to Katakwi. This journey will take about 30 minutes and may cost around 5,000 UGX. Upon reaching Katakwi, you may need to hire a boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) or a local taxi for the last leg of the journey to Achwa River. This ride should cost about 10,000 UGX and take approximately 15 minutes.

If you are already in a nearby town like Katakwi, hiring a boda-boda is an excellent option. Simply find a boda-boda stand and negotiate a fare, which should be around 10,000 UGX for a ride to Achwa River. The journey would take about 15 minutes. Ensure to wear a helmet and confirm the price before starting your ride.
Walking
If you're already in the vicinity of Achwa River, walking is a viable option. From the nearest village or town, ask locals for directions to the river. The walk could take about 30 minutes to an hour depending on your starting point. Be sure to carry water and wear comfortable shoes, as the terrain may be uneven.
