Getting There

  • Car

    From Teso, start your journey towards Soroti. Drive west on the Soroti-Moroto Road (A1) for approximately 80 km. After reaching Soroti, continue north on the A1 towards Moroto. At Moroto, take the road to Kotido. After Kotido, you will take the road towards Kaabong. Finally, from Kaabong, follow signs to Kidepo National Park. The total journey is approximately 260 km from Teso and will take around 6-7 hours depending on road conditions. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition, as some sections may be rough.

  • Public Transportation (Bus)

    From Teso, you can take a bus from Soroti Bus Terminal heading towards Moroto. The buses operate regularly, and the journey to Moroto takes about 2-3 hours. Once in Moroto, you can either hire a private taxi or take a local boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to Kaabong, which is about 70 km away and will take approximately 1.5-2 hours. Upon reaching Kaabong, you can arrange for a hired vehicle or use a local guide to reach Kidepo National Park, which is about 30 km from Kaabong.

  • Private Taxi

    If you prefer more comfort, you can hire a private taxi from Teso directly to Kidepo National Park. You can negotiate the fare beforehand, which typically ranges from 200,000 to 300,000 UGX depending on your starting point in Teso. The journey will take approximately 6-7 hours, and you will have the advantage of being able to stop along the way for refreshments or sightseeing.

  • Boda-Boda (Motorcycle Taxi)

    For adventurous travelers, you can consider taking a boda-boda from your location in Teso to Soroti, then catch a bus to Moroto, and finally hire another boda-boda from Moroto to Kidepo National Park. This method is more exciting and allows for more interaction with locals, but ensure you wear a helmet and negotiate the fare beforehand. The total cost will vary based on distance and negotiation but could amount to approximately 100,000 UGX for the entire journey.
