Getting There

  • Bus

    From Aberdeen city center, head to the bus station at Guild Street. You can catch the Stagecoach bus number 107 or 37, which travels directly to Stonehaven. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the latest departure times. When you arrive in Stonehaven, disembark at the Stonehaven bus station.

  • Walking

    Once you have arrived at the Stonehaven bus station, exit the station and turn left onto Allardice Street. Walk straight until you reach the roundabout, then take the first exit onto the A92 heading towards the coast. Continue walking along the A92 for about 1 mile (1.6 km) until you see the signs for Dunnottar Castle. The castle is situated on a cliff overlooking the sea, and you will need to descend some steps to reach the entrance.

  • Train

    Alternatively, you can take a train from Aberdeen to Stonehaven. Head to Aberdeen’s train station located at Guild Street. Purchase a ticket for Stonehaven, and board the train. The train journey takes approximately 20 minutes. When you arrive at Stonehaven station, exit the station and follow the walking directions above to reach Dunnottar Castle.
