After many years of neglect, the gardens and estate began a remarkable restoration in 2001 led by the current owners, Philip and Marianne. Their dedication transformed the site from disrepair into a flourishing sanctuary of horticulture and wildlife. The gardens now span approximately 3 acres of mixed herbaceous planting enclosed within four distinct walled gardens, all set amidst 27 acres of surrounding policies.

Distinctive Garden Spaces

Each of the four walled gardens offers a unique character and planting style. Visitors can explore formal and informal areas featuring herbaceous borders, rose beds and arches, fruit trees, and a lavender-scented garden overlooking the Montrose Basin. The gardens also include a ha-ha with a Rosa rugosa hedge, water features such as a pond with koi carp and water lilies, and a wildlife pond that supports local fauna. The northernmost garden serves as an arboretum, showcasing a variety of large heritage trees, while the interconnected gardens provide a diverse botanical experience.
