If you are driving, head towards Brecon on the A40. Once in Brecon, take the A470 south towards Merthyr Tydfil for approximately 7 miles. Look for signs directing you to Fan Fawr and turn onto the B4520 towards the village of Libanus. Continue until you reach the small parking area near the start of the Fan Fawr trail, which is located at the coordinates 51.8595421, -3.5049367. Parking is free, but it can fill up quickly on weekends.

To reach Fan Fawr using public transport, take a bus from Brecon to Merthyr Tydfil. The service is operated by Stagecoach and you can check their timetable for exact departures. Once you arrive in Merthyr Tydfil, switch to the 'Brecon to Merthyr' bus service that stops near Libanus. You will need to ask the driver to drop you at the nearest stop to Fan Fawr. From there, it is approximately a 1-mile walk to the trailhead. Make sure to check bus schedules in advance, as they may vary, especially on weekends.

If you are already in the vicinity of Libanus, you can walk to Fan Fawr from there. Follow the minor road towards the mountains, which will lead you directly to the foot of the hill. The walk is relatively straightforward, taking about 30 minutes, but be prepared for a steep ascent once you start climbing the hill to reach the summit.
