Ardvreck Castle was constructed around 1490 by the MacLeods of Assynt as a three-story tower house, embodying the defensive and residential needs of the Scottish Highlands during the late medieval period. Its thick stone walls, narrow windows, and vaulted basement reflect typical tower house design, optimized for protection against clan skirmishes and external threats.
