Explore the haunting ruins of Ardvreck Castle, a dramatic Highland landmark steeped in history, legend, and stunning lochside views.
Ardvreck Castle, perched on a rocky promontory in the Scottish Highlands, is a haunting ruin of a 15th-century tower house built by Clan MacLeod. Known for its dramatic role in Scottish history, including the betrayal and capture of the Royalist Marquis of Montrose in 1650, the castle offers stunning views over Loch Assynt and a glimpse into the turbulent past of the Highlands. Nearby lies the ruins of Calda House, the 18th-century mansion that replaced Ardvreck but was abandoned after clan conflicts and Jacobite upheavals.
