Nestled in the historic Summerhall arts complex in Edinburgh’s Newington district, Summerhall Distillery is the city’s first exclusive gin distillery in over 150 years. Founded in 2013 by friends Matthew Gammell and Marcus Pickering, it crafts the award-winning Pickering’s Gin using a secret 1947 recipe. The distillery combines traditional copper alembic stills with innovative techniques, producing a range of gins and spirits celebrated worldwide. Housed in a former veterinary school’s dog kennels, it offers a unique blend of heritage, creativity, and community spirit.
