Stirling Castle: A Majestic Historical Marvel

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car from Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, head towards the A81 road. Follow the signs for the A81 and continue until you reach the junction with the A872. Turn right onto the A872 and follow it until you reach the A9. Merge onto the A9 towards Stirling. Once you approach Stirling, take the exit for the A91 toward Stirling City Centre. Follow the A91 which will take you into the city. Follow signs for Stirling Castle, which will lead you to Castle Wynd. The castle has parking nearby, but note that there may be a charge, so check local signage for details.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, you can take a bus from various locations in Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park to Stirling. Check local bus schedules for services to Stirling. Once you arrive at Stirling bus station, it’s about a 15-minute walk to Stirling Castle. Exit the bus station and head towards Goosecroft Road. Continue straight until you reach the roundabout and take the first exit onto the A84. Follow this road until you see signs for Stirling Castle. Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the bus station, which should take about 5 minutes and cost around £5-£7.

• Train

  For those traveling by train, you can catch a train from Balloch or other nearby stations to Stirling. Check the ScotRail website for train schedules. Once you arrive at Stirling train station, it is a short walk to the city center. Exit the station and turn right onto the A9. Follow the road until you reach the junction with the A91. Turn left onto the A91 and continue until you see signs for Stirling Castle. The walk will take approximately 20 minutes, or you can take a taxi for about £5.
