Travel Guide to Yr Wyddfa

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, head to Caernarfon. From Caernarfon, take the A4085 towards Beddgelert. After approximately 5 miles, you will see signs for 'Snowdon' as you approach the village of Llanberis. Follow these signs to the parking area. The main car park is located at the base of the mountain, near the Snowdon Mountain Railway station. There is a parking fee of approximately £10 for the day.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Yr Wyddfa using public transportation, take a train to Llanberis from either Bangor or Caernarfon, which are the nearest train stations. The train ride from Bangor takes about 30 minutes, while from Caernarfon, it takes about 15 minutes. Once you arrive in Llanberis, you can walk to the base of Yr Wyddfa, which is about a 15-minute walk from the train station. Look for signs directing you toward the Snowdon path.

• Shuttle Bus

  During the peak season, there are shuttle buses available from various locations in Snowdonia National Park to the base of Yr Wyddfa. Check local travel information for schedules. The bus fare is typically around £5 for a return trip. Make sure to check the timetable to plan your return journey.

• Walking from Llanberis

  If you are already in Llanberis, you can simply walk to the starting point of the popular Llanberis Path, which is one of the routes up Yr Wyddfa. The walk from the village to the path takes approximately 15 minutes. Be prepared for a steep climb as you ascend the mountain, and ensure you have adequate footwear and supplies.
