Car
If you're starting from Moab, take US-191 South for about 30 miles. Keep an eye out for the signs indicating the turn-off for Canyonlands National Park. Turn left onto UT-313 and continue for about 23 miles. You'll arrive at the Island in the Sky entrance of Canyonlands National Park. There is an entrance fee of $30 per vehicle, valid for 7 days. Once inside the park, follow the signs to the Confluence Overlook. The drive will take you through breathtaking landscapes, and the overlook is about a 10-15 minute drive from the entrance.
Public Transportation
Public transportation options are limited in the Canyonlands area. However, you can take a shuttle service from Moab to the Canyonlands visitor center. Once you arrive, you will need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Confluence Overlook, which is approximately a 20-minute drive from the visitor center. Be sure to check the shuttle schedule in advance, as they may not operate frequently.
Hiking
If you are already within Canyonlands and enjoy hiking, you can access the Confluence Overlook via a hiking trail. Starting from the Grand View Point, take the trail that leads towards the overlook. It is a moderate hike of about 3 miles one way with some elevation gain. Make sure to bring plenty of water and wear appropriate hiking shoes. The views at the overlook are well worth the effort, especially during sunrise or sunset.
Bicycle
Biking is another option for exploring Canyonlands. If you have a mountain bike, you can ride from the Island in the Sky entrance to Confluence Overlook. This route is approximately 10 miles one way and includes some challenging terrain. Be sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water and snacks. The park’s rugged beauty is best enjoyed on two wheels, and biking allows you to take in the sights at your own pace.
