From the nearest major city, Kanab, UT, head south on US-89. Continue on US-89 for approximately 15 miles. Look for a well-marked turn-off for Sand Caves on your right. The turn-off is about 0.5 miles past the junction with 4th Ave. Once you turn off, follow the dirt road for about 0.3 miles until you reach the parking area. Note that the dirt road may require a high-clearance vehicle if it has recently rained.

If you are using public transportation, you can take a Greyhound bus to Kanab, UT. From the bus station, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to get to Sand Caves, as public transportation options are limited in this area. The taxi ride will take approximately 15-20 minutes and cost around $20-$30. Once you arrive at the parking area, follow the path to the Sand Caves, which is a short walk from the parking area.

If you are already within Dixie National Forest and parked at a nearby trailhead, you can hike to Sand Caves. From the nearest hiking trail, take the well-marked trail leading towards the canyon that houses the Sand Caves. It is a moderate hike, approximately 1 mile from the nearest trailhead. Make sure to carry enough water and wear sturdy hiking shoes.
