Getting There

  • Car

If you are starting from the Capitol Reef National Park Visitor Center, drive south on Utah Route 24 for approximately 10 miles. Look for the Halls Creek Road turnoff on your right (west). This road is unpaved and may require a high-clearance vehicle, so make sure your car is suitable for this type of terrain. Continue on Halls Creek Road for about 5 miles until you reach the parking area at the trailhead.

  • Hiking

From the Halls Creek trailhead parking area, follow the marked trail that leads into Halls Creek Canyon. The hike to the Narrows is about 2 miles one way. The trail can be narrow and rocky, so be prepared with sturdy hiking boots. Follow the wash up the canyon, and you will soon encounter the stunning Halls Creek Narrows.

  • Public Transportation

Public transportation options are limited in this area. If you are relying on public transportation, consider taking a shuttle service from Torrey, UT to the Capitol Reef National Park area. Once you arrive at the park, you will still need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare to get to the Halls Creek Road turnoff. After reaching the trailhead, you will still need to hike to the Narrows.

  • Costs

Be aware that there is an entrance fee for Capitol Reef National Park. The fee is $10 per vehicle and is valid for 7 days. If you plan to use a shuttle service, check their rates in advance, as they may vary.
