Getting There

    From the center of Moab, head east on Main Street (US-191) towards the intersections with 400 East. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with 400 East, then turn left. Follow 400 East until it merges into Kane Creek Blvd. Continue along Kane Creek Blvd, which will eventually lead you out of the town. Stay on Kane Creek Blvd as it transitions into a more rugged road. Keep following the signs towards the Arches National Park entrance. After entering the park, Shafer Trail is located on the opposite side of the park and will be signposted. The total walk is approximately 4 miles, so be prepared for a long trek.

    Rent a bike from a local shop in Moab. Start from Main Street and head towards the Moab Canyon Pathway. Follow the pathway which will take you along the Colorado River. Stay on the path until you reach the intersection with Kane Creek Blvd. Turn right on Kane Creek Blvd and continue biking. The trail will gradually lead you towards the entrance of Arches National Park. Once you enter the park, follow the signs to Shafer Trail.
