Public Transit
From downtown Salt Lake City, head to the TRAX light rail station at 200 S Main St. Take the Blue Line towards the University of Utah. Get off at the last stop, which is the Salt Lake Central Station. From there, transfer to the UTA ski bus (Route 953) headed towards Provo Canyon. Inform the driver you are going to the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway. The bus will take you to the starting point of the loop, where you can explore the scenic views and hiking trails.
Bicycle
Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops near downtown Salt Lake City. Head south on State Street (US-89) towards 900 S. Continue on US-89, which will take you through the city outskirts and into the more scenic areas of Utah. Follow the bike lanes and signs towards Provo Canyon where the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway begins. Be cautious of traffic and enjoy the beautiful views along the way!
Walking
Although walking directly to the Alpine Loop Scenic Byway is not practical due to the distance (approximately 30 miles), you can walk to the nearest public transit station. Start at Pioneer Park (300 S 300 W), and walk to the TRAX light rail station at 200 S Main St. From there, follow the Public Transit instructions to reach the scenic byway.
