    From downtown Salt Lake City, walk to the closest TRAX light rail station, which is either the City Center or Gallivan Plaza station. Take the Red Line train towards the University Medical Center. Once you reach the Medical Center station, transfer to the Route 9 bus (University of Utah/Red Butte Gardens) at the bus stop. Stay on the bus for about 10-15 minutes, and get off at the Sunnyside Avenue stop. Walk east on Sunnyside Avenue for about 5 minutes until you reach the Pony Express National Historic Trail located at 2423-2599 Sunnyside Ave S.

  • Walking

    If you are near the University of Utah, you can walk directly to the Pony Express National Historic Trail. Starting from the main entrance of the university, head southeast on Presidents Circle toward 1500 E. Turn left on 1500 E and walk straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach Sunnyside Ave S. Turn right on Sunnyside Ave S and continue walking for about 0.3 miles. The trail will be on your left at 2423-2599 Sunnyside Ave S.

    If you have access to a bicycle, you can rent one from a nearby bike share program or use your own. Start from downtown Salt Lake City and ride east on 400 S until you reach 1300 E. Turn left on 1300 E and head north until you reach Sunnyside Ave S. Turn right on Sunnyside Ave S and continue riding for about 0.5 miles.
