Car
From the Snowbird resort area, start by heading east on the main road (Sundial Drive). Continue on this road until you reach the junction with Little Cottonwood Canyon Road. Turn left onto Little Cottonwood Canyon Road (UT-210). Drive approximately 6 miles, enjoying the scenic views along the way. Look for signs indicating the trailhead for Sundial Peak, which is located near the end of the road. Park at the designated parking area at the trailhead. Note that parking may be limited during peak seasons, and there may be a parking fee of around $5 to $10.
Public Transportation
If you prefer to use public transportation, start by taking the UTA bus route 953 from the Snowbird resort. This bus runs seasonally, so check the UTA schedule for current times. The bus will take you toward the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon. Disembark at the stop nearest to the trailhead for Sundial Peak. From there, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the trailhead. Be sure to check the bus fare, which is generally around $2.50 per ride.
Hiking
Once you arrive at the trailhead for Sundial Peak, the hiking trail begins here. The trail is well-marked and features stunning views as you ascend. Make sure to carry water and snacks, as the hike can be strenuous. The round trip hike to Sundial Peak typically takes about 4 to 6 hours, depending on your pace. Always check the weather conditions before heading out and consider starting early in the day to avoid afternoon thunderstorms.
