Car
From Vernal, Utah, take US-40 W for approximately 39 miles. Then, take the exit toward US-189 S. Merge onto US-189 S and continue for about 16 miles. Turn left onto N Horizon Dr, and continue for about 1 mile until you reach the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest headquarters located at 11925 N Horizon Dr, Highland, UT 84003. Note that parking is available at the forest headquarters.
Public Transportation
If you are relying on public transportation, start by taking the Uintah Basin Transit Authority (UBTA) bus from Vernal to Provo. From Provo, you can transfer to a bus heading to Highland. Once in Highland, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to cover the final 3 miles to the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest headquarters at 11925 N Horizon Dr. Be sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time for times and fares.
Bicycle
For adventurous cyclists, you can bike from Vernal, Utah, to the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. Start on US-40 W, then turn onto US-189 S. This route is approximately 55 miles, so plan for a full day of cycling. Ensure you have proper biking gear and supplies, as there are limited services along this route.
