Travel Guide to The West Temple

Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car within Zion National Park, start from the Zion Canyon Visitor Center. Head south on Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Continue along this scenic route, which is approximately 6 miles long. Look for a pull-out area on the right side of the road where you can park safely. The West Temple will be visible from this area, as it is one of the prominent peaks in the park. Note that parking within the park can be limited, especially during peak seasons, so arrive early to secure a spot.

• Shuttle Bus

  During the peak season, Zion National Park operates a shuttle bus system. Board the shuttle from the Zion Canyon Visitor Center. Take the shuttle bus on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. You can get off at the Temple of Sinawava stop, which is the last stop on the route. From here, you can hike along the Riverside Walk, which is a 2-mile round trip. As you walk, you will have views of The West Temple in the distance. There is no direct access to the peak from this trail, but it offers excellent views of the surrounding area. The shuttle service costs $1 per person.

• Hiking

  If you are an adventurous visitor looking to get closer to The West Temple, you can hike the West Temple Trail. This trail starts at a point along the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. After parking at the designated area, head towards the trailhead. The trail is approximately 4.6 miles round trip and is moderately strenuous. It will take you through beautiful scenery and you will have a chance to see stunning views of The West Temple as you ascend. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks, as well as a good pair of hiking shoes. There is no cost to hike, but be aware that visitors must have an entrance pass to enter the park.
