From the Sistine Chapel, exit through the main entrance. Upon exiting, you'll find yourself in the Vatican Museums courtyard. Walk straight ahead towards the entrance of St. Peter's Basilica, which you will see in front of you. Once you reach the Basilica, turn right and walk along the side of the building. Keep walking until you reach the large open space of Piazza San Pietro. The Excavation Office is located on the right side of the square. Look for the address 'WF23+MJ2, Piazza San Pietro' as your guide. It is a short walk of approximately 10-15 minutes.
