Getting There

Walking
Start from the main entrance of the Apostolic Palace. Exit the palace and head towards Piazza San Pietro (St. Peter's Square). As you walk, enjoy the stunning views of the Basilica. Keep walking straight through the square, and exit via the colonnade. Once you are out of the square, turn left onto Via della Conciliazione. Continue walking straight until you reach the intersection with Via dei Fornari. Cross the street to continue on Via della Conciliazione, which will lead you towards the Tiber River. After walking for about 10 minutes, you will reach the Tiber River. Turn right onto Lungotevere in Augusta and follow the riverbank. After approximately 15 minutes of walking along the river, you will come across the bridge called Ponte Regina Margherita. Cross the bridge, and you will find yourself at the intersection with Piazza del Popolo. The famous obelisk will be in front of you, marking the entrance to the square.

From the Apostolic Palace, walk to the nearest bus stop located at Piazza San Pietro. Here, you can catch bus number 64 towards Stazione Termini. Board the bus and stay on for about 10 minutes, getting off at the stop named 'Piazza del Popolo'. From there, it’s only a short walk to the main attractions of the square, including the beautiful fountains and the obelisk.
