Public Transportation
From Vatican Library, walk to the nearest metro station, Ottaviano - San Pietro. Take Line A towards Anagnina and disembark at Termini station. At Termini, transfer to Line B and take the train towards Laurentina. Get off at the next stop, 'Castro Pretorio'. From Castro Pretorio, it's approximately a 10-minute walk to Porta Maggiore. Head east on Via di Porta Maggiore, continue straight until you reach Piazza di Porta Maggiore.
Car
If you are driving from Vatican Library, head southeast on Via di Porta Angelica towards Piazza San Pietro. Turn left onto Via della Conciliazione. Continue onto Lungotevere in Sassia and take the ramp onto A24. Follow signs for Roma Centro and take the exit toward Via di Portonaccio. Merge onto Via di Portonaccio and follow it until it turns into Via di Porta Maggiore. Continue straight until you reach Piazza di Porta Maggiore, where you can park nearby.
Walking
If you prefer to walk from Vatican Library, exit the library and head east on Via di Porta Angelica. Continue straight until you reach Piazza San Pietro, then walk along Via della Conciliazione. Keep walking until you reach Lungotevere in Sassia, then turn left and follow the river. Continue until you reach the bridge, then cross it. After crossing, turn right onto Via di Porta Maggiore, and continue until you reach Piazza di Porta Maggiore.
