Walking
If you are in the Vatican Necropolis, head towards the main exit of St. Peter's Basilica. Once you exit, turn right and walk towards the Via della Conciliazione. Continue straight until you reach the Tiber River. Cross the river via the Ponte Sant'Angelo. After crossing, continue straight until you reach the intersection with Via di Monte Brianzo. Turn left onto Via di Monte Brianzo and follow it until it merges into Via del Teatro di Marcello. Continue straight until you reach Piazza Venezia, then take Via dei Fori Imperiali. Keep walking straight until you see the Colosseum on your right. The destination, Piazza del Colosseo, is just a short walk from there.

From Vatican Necropolis, walk to the nearest bus stop, which is located on Via della Conciliazione. Take the bus line 40 (direction: Termini Station) and stay on the bus until you reach the stop at Piazza Venezia. From Piazza Venezia, disembark and walk along Via dei Fori Imperiali. The Colosseum will be on your right. Continue walking straight and you will reach Piazza del Colosseo.

Public Transport (Metro)
From Vatican Necropolis, walk to the Ottaviano Metro Station. Take the Metro Line A (direction: Anagnina) and transfer at Termini Station to Line B (direction: Laurentina). Get off at the Colosseo station. Once you exit the station, you will be right at the entrance of the Colosseum, and Piazza del Colosseo is just steps away from there.
