Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from the Green Mountains area, take I-89 North towards Burlington. Merge onto US-2 E and continue to follow it until you reach the exit for Main St. in Burlington. Turn left onto Main St., then take a right onto South Willard St. Continue straight to find the Island Line Trail. There is a parking lot available at the trailhead near the intersection of Island Line Trail and Depot St. After parking, follow the trail on foot towards the Burlington Breakwater South Lighthouse, which is approximately a 1-mile walk.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, take the Green Mountain Transit bus service from various locations in the Green Mountains to Burlington. Routes may vary, so check the Green Mountain Transit website for schedules and stops. Get off at the Main St. stop in Burlington. From there, walk south on Main St., turn right onto South Willard St., and follow the signs for the Island Line Trail. The lighthouse is about a 1-mile walk from the bus stop.

• Bicycle

  For those who enjoy cycling, you can rent a bike in Burlington or bring your own. Follow the Island Line Trail, which is a scenic route along Lake Champlain. The trail is well-marked and offers beautiful views. The lighthouse is located at the end of the trail, approximately 1 mile from where you start. Be sure to bring water and snacks for your ride.

• Walking

  If you are already in Burlington, you can simply walk to the lighthouse. Start from the downtown area, head south on Main St., turn right onto South Willard St., and continue to the Island Line Trail. The lighthouse is about a 1-mile walk from downtown Burlington. This is a pleasant stroll with views of the lake along the way.
