Car
From the Smugglers' Notch State Park entrance, head south on Vermont Route 108. Continue on Route 108 for approximately 4 miles until you reach the intersection with Vermont Route 15. Turn left onto Route 15 and follow it for about 5 miles. You will see signs for Mount Mansfield State Forest. Follow the signs and park at the Mount Mansfield parking area, which is located at the base of the mountain. Note that there is a parking fee of $5 for the day.
Public Transportation
Begin at the Smugglers' Notch State Park visitor center. Take the Green Mountain Transit bus towards Stowe. After approximately a 20-minute ride, disembark at the Stowe Village stop. From there, you may need to arrange a local taxi service or rideshare to take you to the Mount Mansfield parking area. Be sure to confirm the taxi fare in advance, as it can vary based on demand.
Hiking
If you are already in the Smugglers' Notch area and enjoy hiking, you can take the Long Trail north from Smugglers' Notch towards Mount Mansfield. This trail will take you directly to the summit. Be prepared for a strenuous hike, as it can take approximately 2-3 hours to reach the top. Ensure you have proper hiking gear and enough water.
