If you are staying in Stowe, you can walk to the Stowe Recreation Path which connects to local trails. Start at the Stowe Visitor Center on Main Street and head south on Main Street, crossing the bridge over the river. Continue on the path until you reach the junction for the Stowe Recreation Path. Follow the path for approximately 6 miles until you reach the southern end of the path near the Waterbury Reservoir. From there, you can take a bus or bike to Burlington, which is about 30 minutes away.

For a more direct route to the Island Line Trail, rent a bike from one of the local shops in Stowe. Start at the Stowe Recreation Path and follow it south until you reach the junction for Route 100. Take Route 100 south towards Waterbury, then follow signs to Burlington. The Island Line Trail begins at the waterfront in Burlington. This route is approximately 12 miles and offers beautiful views along the way.

To reach the Island Line Trail via public transportation, first, walk to the Stowe Village Bus Stop located on Main Street. Catch the Green Mountain Transit bus heading towards Burlington. The bus ride takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive in Burlington, get off at the Church Street Marketplace stop. From there, walk towards the waterfront, where the Island Line Trail begins. This is about a 15-minute walk from the bus stop.
