Travel Guide to Bat Trang Ancient Village

Getting There

• Bus

  From the Old Quarter of Hanoi, head to the nearest bus stop on Hang Xanh Street. Take bus number 47, which goes directly to Bat Trang Ancient Village. The bus ride takes approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Make sure to have some Vietnamese Dong ready for the fare, which is around 8,000 VND. Keep an eye out for the Bat Trang stop, which is marked with signs. Once you get off, you will be just a short walk from the village.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from various shops in Hanoi. Start from the Old Quarter and head towards the Long Bien Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the road signs towards Gia Lam. Continue straight until you see signs for Bat Trang. The distance is about 13 kilometers and should take around 1 hour, depending on your cycling speed. The ride offers a scenic view of the Red River.

• Motorbike Taxi (Xe Ôm)

  For a quicker option, you can use a motorbike taxi service like Grab or GoJek. Simply open the app, set your destination to Bat Trang Ancient Village, and choose a ride. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes, and the fare will vary based on traffic conditions. Make sure to confirm the price before starting your ride.

• Walking

  If you are already in the Gia Lam area, you can walk to Bat Trang Ancient Village. From Gia Lam Railway Station, head southeast on Tran Nhat Duat Street. Continue straight until you reach the main road. Turn left onto Bát Tràng Street, and follow it until you see the entrance to the village. This walk will take about 30-40 minutes.
