If you're in the Old Quarter, start at Hoan Kiem Lake. Locate the southern end of the lake, which is nearest to Dinh Tien Hoang Street. Walk along the lake's perimeter, enjoying the view. If you are coming from the famous Ta Hien Street, head east until you reach Dinh Tien Hoang Street, then walk south until you see the lake.

From the Hanoi Opera House, head north on Trang Tien Street until you reach the intersection with Dinh Tien Hoang Street. Turn left and follow Dinh Tien Hoang Street all the way to the southern end of Hoan Kiem Lake. You will see the scenic lake as you approach.
