Car
If you're driving to Phong Nha Cave, make your way to the town of Phong Nha, located in Bố Trạch District, Quảng Bình Province. From the center of Phong Nha, take the Ho Chi Minh Highway (AH1) heading north or south, depending on your starting point. Follow the signs for Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park. The cave is approximately a 30-minute drive from the town center. Once you arrive at H7JM+V6, look for parking areas near the entrance.
Public Transportation - Bus
To reach Phong Nha Cave by bus, start from major cities like Hue or Dong Hoi. From Hue, take a bus to Dong Hoi; several companies operate this route, and the journey takes about 4 hours. In Dong Hoi, transfer to a local bus heading to Phong Nha. Buses run regularly, and the trip takes about 1 hour. Upon arrival at the Phong Nha bus station, it's a short walk or taxi ride to the cave entrance at H7JM+V6.
Taxi or Ride-Hailing Service
For a more convenient option, consider taking a taxi or using a ride-hailing service like Grab. If you're in Dong Hoi, you can book a taxi directly to Phong Nha Cave, which is about 40 kilometers away and usually takes around 1 hour. Be sure to confirm the fare with the driver before starting your journey.
Boat Tour
Once you reach Phong Nha, consider exploring the cave system via a boat tour, which is highly recommended. There are several local operators offering boat tours that take you through the caves. Prices can vary, but expect to pay around 150,000 to 250,000 VND per person for a tour. This will give you an opportunity to witness the stunning limestone formations and unique cave ecosystems.
