Getting There

  • Walking

    If you're starting from the Downtown Mall, head south on 1st Street SE towards E Main St. Turn right onto E Main St and walk for about 0.5 miles until you reach S 2nd St. Turn left on S 2nd St and continue for another 0.2 miles. Once you reach E Jefferson St, turn right and walk for 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with Thomas Jefferson Pkwy. Continue straight onto Thomas Jefferson Pkwy and walk for approximately 1 mile. You will find the entrance to the Saunders-Monticello Trail on your right.

  • Biking

    From the University of Virginia campus, take the bike path heading south towards the downtown area. Once you reach E Main St, turn left and ride for about 0.7 miles until you reach S 2nd St. Turn right on S 2nd St, and after 0.2 miles, turn right onto E Jefferson St. Continue for another 0.3 miles until you reach Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, where you will turn left. Ride approximately 1 mile, and the Saunders-Monticello Trail entrance will be on your right.

  • Public Transport

    To reach the Saunders-Monticello Trail via public transport, take the Charlottesville Area Transit (CAT) bus route 7 from anywhere in the city towards Monticello. The bus will take you to the stop at Thomas Jefferson Parkway. From the bus stop, walk for about 0.2 miles south on Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, and you will see the entrance to the Saunders-Monticello Trail on your left.
