Car
From the center of Mount Rogers National Recreation Area, take US-58 West. Continue on US-58 for approximately 12 miles. Turn right onto VA-684 South (also known as Channels Drive). Follow VA-684 for about 5 miles until you reach the parking area for The Channels. Note that the parking lot is relatively small, so arrive early during peak seasons to secure a spot.

If you are relying on public transportation, take a Greyhound bus or a local shuttle to Abingdon, VA. From there, you can rent a car from a local rental service. Once you have your rental, follow the driving instructions provided above to reach The Channels.

Hiking
If you're already within the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area and prefer a more adventurous route, you can hike to The Channels. Begin at the Massie Gap parking area and take the Appalachian Trail. Follow the signs for the Channels. This hike is approximately 5 miles one way and can be moderately challenging, so ensure you have appropriate gear and plenty of water.
