Getting There

  • Walking

    If you're starting from the center of Petersburg, head south on S Sycamore St towards E Washington St. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with E Washington St. Turn left onto E Washington St and walk for about 0.5 miles. You will then reach the intersection with S Crater Rd (US-301). Cross over to the right side of the road and continue walking south for another 1.5 miles. You will see the entrance to Petersburg National Battlefield Park on your left at 5001 Siege Rd. Follow the signs into the park.

  • Public Transportation

    You can take the local bus service, Petersburg Transit. Find the nearest bus stop along your current location. Board the bus route that heads towards Crater Road. After approximately 30 minutes, get off at the stop closest to Siege Road. From there, it is a short 10-minute walk to the park entrance at 5001 Siege Rd. Look for signs directing you into the park.

  • Biking

    If you have access to a bicycle, you can take a scenic route from downtown Petersburg. Start on S Sycamore St heading south, then turn left onto E Washington St. Ride straight for about 0.5 miles, then turn right onto Crater Rd. Follow Crater Rd for approximately 1.5 miles and you will see the entrance to Petersburg National Battlefield Park on your left at 5001 Siege Rd. There is bike parking available at the trailhead.
