Getting There

• Walking

  If you are starting from the Petersburg Area Transit (PAT) bus station at 100 East Washington Street, exit the station and head east on East Washington Street. Continue straight for about 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with South Sycamore Street. Turn right onto South Sycamore Street and walk for another 0.2 miles. Next, turn left onto East Bank Street and proceed for about 0.3 miles. Finally, turn right onto Cockade Alley, and The McIlwaine House will be on your left at 425 Cockade Alley.

  From the Petersburg Area Transit (PAT) bus station at 100 East Washington Street, rent a bike from a local bike-sharing program if available. Head east on East Washington Street for approximately 0.3 miles and turn right onto South Sycamore Street. Continue for 0.2 miles and then turn left onto East Bank Street. Bike for about 0.3 miles and then turn right onto Cockade Alley. The McIlwaine House will be at 425 Cockade Alley on your left.

  From the Petersburg Area Transit (PAT) bus station at 100 East Washington Street, take Bus Route 1 heading towards the Southside Virginia Community College. Ride for about 10 minutes and disembark at the stop near Sycamore Street and East Bank Street. From there, walk south on South Sycamore Street for about 0.2 miles, then turn left onto East Bank Street. Walk straight for approximately 0.3 miles and turn right onto Cockade Alley. The McIlwaine House will be located at 425 Cockade Alley.
