Explore Park: A Nature Lover's Paradise

Getting There

• Public Bus

  Take the Valley Metro Bus #5 from downtown Roanoke. Board the bus at the Roanoke City Market, which is centrally located. The bus runs every hour, so check the schedule in advance. Stay on the bus for about 30 minutes until you reach the stop at 'Explore Park'. From the bus stop, you will see the entrance to Explore Park just a short walk away.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer to cycle, you can rent a bike from one of the local shops in downtown Roanoke. Head southwest on Jefferson St SW, then take a left onto 4th St SW. Follow the bike route signs towards the Roanoke River Greenway. Continue on the Greenway, which will take you alongside the river. After about 6 miles, you will reach the entrance to Explore Park. Make sure to wear a helmet and follow all traffic rules.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy a long walk, you can start from downtown Roanoke. Head south on Campbell Ave SW, then make a right on 10th St SW. Continue walking until you reach the Roanoke River Greenway. Follow the Greenway for approximately 6 miles. It will be a scenic route along the river, and you'll eventually see the signs for Explore Park as you approach. Allow yourself plenty of time for this leisurely walk.
