From downtown Roanoke, head to the nearest bus stop and take the Valley Metro bus Route 6 towards the Mill Mountain area. Stay on the bus for about 15-20 minutes. Get off at the Mill Mountain Zoo stop. From there, it's a short walk up Mill Mountain Spur to reach the zoo entrance.
Bicycle
If you prefer biking, rent a bike from a local bike share station in downtown Roanoke. Take Jefferson St SW heading south and then turn onto Mill Mountain Spur. Follow the path to the top of Mill Mountain. The zoo will be located on your right as you approach the entrance.

For those who enjoy walking, from downtown Roanoke, head south on Jefferson St. SW until you reach the entrance of Mill Mountain Park. Follow the trail signs leading up Mill Mountain Spur. It’s about a 1.5-mile hike up to the zoo, so wear comfortable shoes and enjoy the scenic views along the way.
