Public Bus
From downtown Roanoke, head to the nearest bus stop and catch the Valley Metro bus route that goes towards the Hollins area. You will want to take the #25 route that stops at the Hollins area. Once you are on the bus, stay on until you reach the stop at the intersection of Brambleton Ave and Hollins Rd. From there, transfer to the #22 bus heading towards Crumpacker Dr. After approximately 15 minutes, get off at the Crumpacker Dr stop. Walk down Crumpacker Dr for about 0.5 miles, and you will find Read Mountain Preserve on your left.

Bicycle
If you are renting a bicycle, start from downtown Roanoke and head north on 1st St NW. Continue straight to join the Roanoke River Greenway. Follow the greenway until you reach the intersection with Roanoke Blvd. Turn left on Roanoke Blvd and then right on Hollins Rd. After a short ride, take a left onto Crumpacker Dr. Follow Crumpacker Dr for about 1 mile, and Read Mountain Preserve will be on your right.

Walking
If you're up for a hike, start from the Roanoke City Market, and head north on 1st St NW. Continue walking until you reach the intersection of 1st St NW and Washington Ave NW, where you will take a right. Then, take a left onto 4th St NW and continue until you reach the intersection with Williamson Rd. Cross Williamson Rd and continue onto Hollins Rd. After about 1.5 miles, take a left onto Crumpacker Dr and walk approximately half a mile to reach Read Mountain Preserve.
