Turn right onto Spirit Lake Hwy/WA-504 E and continue for approximately 20 miles. Look for the Ape Cave sign on your right, just past the entrance to the Lava Canyon Trailhead. Turn into the Ape Cave parking lot (note that there is a parking fee of $5 per vehicle). From the parking lot, it's a short walk to the cave entrance.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, take a Greyhound or a regional bus to the nearest town, which is Longview, WA. From Longview, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to reach the Ape Cave area. Once you arrive at the nearest access point, follow the same directions as for car travelers, heading towards Spirit Lake Hwy/WA-504 E and looking for the Ape Cave sign. Be sure to check the local bus schedules ahead of time, as service may be limited.
Walking from Parking
Once you've parked in the Ape Cave parking lot, walk toward the cave entrance, which is clearly marked. The entrance is located about a quarter of a mile from the parking area. Make sure to wear appropriate footwear, as the path may be uneven and rocky. Also, be prepared for cool temperatures inside the cave, and bring a flashlight or headlamp for exploring.
