Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the Mount St. Helens Visitor Center located at 42218 NE Yale Bridge Rd, Amboy, WA 98601. From the Visitor Center, head southeast on Yale Bridge Rd toward WA-503 N for about 1.5 miles. Turn left onto WA-503 N and continue for approximately 5 miles. Turn right onto FS-90 (Forest Road 90) and follow signs for 'Ape Cave'. After about 10 miles, you'll arrive at the Ape Cave parking lot. Please note that a National Park pass and a $5 parking fee are required to park.

Using public transportation can be a bit more challenging, as direct options are limited. However, you can take a bus from Portland, OR to Amboy, WA (check local schedules for the latest routes). From Amboy, you would need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to the Ape Cave entrance, which is approximately 12 miles away. Ensure you confirm your transportation in advance, as services may vary.
