Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start on US-219 S from any location within Monongahela National Forest. Continue on US-219 S for approximately 20 miles until you reach the junction where US-219 meets US-250. Take a left onto US-250 E and follow it for about 5 miles. Then, turn right onto Nursery Bottom Rd. The Cheat Ranger Station will be located approximately 1 mile down Nursery Bottom Rd on your left at 459 Nursery Bottom Rd, Parsons, WV 26287.

• Public Transportation

  Public transportation options in this remote area are limited. However, if you are near the town of Elkins, you can take the Mountain Line Transit Authority bus towards Parsons. The bus will drop you off in Parsons. From there, you will need to arrange for a taxi or a rideshare service to reach the Cheat Ranger Station at 459 Nursery Bottom Rd, which is approximately 10 miles away. • Bicycle

  For the adventurous, cycling to Cheat Ranger Station is a possibility if you are already in the vicinity. Start on the dirt trails of Monongahela National Forest and make your way towards US-250. Follow the same route as described for cars, but remember that the terrain can be rugged, and you should be prepared for a challenging ride. Always wear a helmet and ensure your bike is equipped for off-road conditions.

• Walking/Hiking

  If you are close to Cheat Ranger Station and prefer to walk or hike, you can access it by following the local trails through Monongahela National Forest. Use a detailed trail map to navigate toward Nursery Bottom Rd. Keep in mind that this may take considerable time depending on your starting point and the trail conditions. Be sure to wear appropriate hiking gear and carry sufficient water.
