From anywhere on Madeline Island, head towards the ferry landing at the southern tip of the island. Take the Madeline Island Ferry to Bayfield, Wisconsin. The ferry ride takes about 25 minutes and costs approximately $16 for a round trip for a vehicle and driver. Once in Bayfield, drive north on Washington Avenue for about 1 mile until you reach 415 Washington Ave. The Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Headquarters will be on your left.

If you are staying on Madeline Island and do not have access to a car, you can still take the Madeline Island Ferry to Bayfield. Walk to the ferry landing and board the ferry to Bayfield. The ferry operates regularly throughout the day, so check the schedule at the ferry terminal. After arriving in Bayfield, you can either walk or take a local taxi service to 415 Washington Ave, which is approximately a 1-mile walk from the ferry landing.
