Bus
From the downtown area, head to the nearest bus stop and catch the Metro Transit Route 80 towards 'University of Wisconsin'. Stay on the bus for about 15 minutes until you reach the stop at 'University Ave & N Park St'. From there, walk north on N Park St for about 5 minutes. You will reach Lake Mendota, which is located near the University of Wisconsin campus.
Bicycle
If you are renting a bike, start from the downtown area and head west on State St. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with University Ave. Turn left and follow University Ave until you reach the entrance to the University of Wisconsin campus. Once inside the campus, follow signs directing you towards Lake Mendota, which is just a short ride away.
Walking
If you're starting from the Capitol building, exit and head west on State St. Continue straight for about 1 mile until you reach the University of Wisconsin campus. Once you enter the campus, follow the signs to Lake Mendota. It should take you around 20-25 minutes to walk there.
