From any point in the Wind River Range, make your way to US-287 S. Follow US-287 S toward Lander. After about 30 miles, take the exit for US-26 E toward Riverton. Continue on US-26 E for approximately 45 miles until you reach the junction with I-80. Merge onto I-80 E. After about 18 miles, take exit 299 for Buford. Turn left onto Monument Rd. Continue straight for about 1.5 miles, and you will reach Ames Monument State Historic Site at 210 Monument Rd, Buford, WY 82052. Please note that there is no entry fee for the site.
