Car
If you're starting from Mongu, the capital of Barotseland, take the M10 road heading south towards Sioma. The journey is approximately 200 kilometers and takes about 3-4 hours depending on road conditions. Along the way, you’ll pass through various villages and may want to stop for supplies or to experience local culture. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as fuel stations can be sparse. Upon reaching Sioma, follow the signs to the Sioma Falls viewpoint.
Public Transport
From Mongu, you can take a long-distance bus or minibus heading to Katima Mulilo. Ask the driver or conductor to drop you off at Sioma Falls. This trip usually takes about 4-5 hours. Be prepared for a crowded ride, and make sure to confirm the fare upfront, which typically ranges from ZMW 50 to 100. Once you arrive at Sioma, you may need to walk or arrange for a local taxi to take you directly to the falls.
Local Taxi
If you are already in Sioma or nearby, you can hire a local taxi to take you directly to Sioma Falls. Taxi fares are usually negotiable, but expect to pay around ZMW 20-50 depending on your starting point and how far you need to go. It’s advisable to agree on the fare before starting your journey.
