Hi, I'm Eve. Here are a few practical things to know before exploring Marindi Falls.
Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
From the main entrance of Chimanimani National Park, head east on the main road towards Vumba. Continue for about 20 kilometers until you reach the junction with the WQ82 road. Turn left onto WQ82 and drive for approximately 5 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Marindi Falls. The falls are located about 1 kilometer off WQ82, and you may need to park your car at the designated parking area before hiking to the falls. Ensure that you have a reliable map or GPS device as the roads can be less marked.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, the best option is to take a minibus from Chimanimani town to Vumba. Once you arrive in Vumba, you may need to hire a local taxi or ask about shared transport to WQ82 road. Ensure to negotiate the fare beforehand. After reaching WQ82, follow the same instructions as for car travel to reach the falls. Note that public transport schedules can be irregular, so it’s advisable to check the latest timings.
Hiking
For those who prefer a more adventurous approach, you can hike from the main park entrance. This scenic route will take you through beautiful landscapes. Start by following the marked trails towards Vumba, then navigate towards WQ82. The hike can take several hours, so be prepared with enough water and snacks. Ensure to wear appropriate hiking gear, as some trails can be steep and rugged.
