Car
If you are driving from Mutare, take the A3 highway towards Harare. After approximately 20 kilometers, turn onto the B4 road towards Nyanga. Continue on the B4 for about 45 kilometers until you reach the turn-off for Chibunji Mountain, which is located near the village of Chibunji. The mountain is not directly marked on many GPS systems, so look for local signs or ask residents for directions. The last few kilometers may require a 4x4 vehicle due to rough terrain.
Public Transportation
To reach Chibunji Mountain via public transport, start by taking a shared taxi or bus from Mutare to Nyanga. These vehicles frequently depart from Mutare's main bus station. The journey should take about 1.5 to 2 hours and cost around $3 to $5 USD. Once you arrive in Nyanga, you will need to find a local taxi to take you to the turn-off for Chibunji Mountain. This taxi ride should cost approximately $10 USD, and the driver will be familiar with the area. From the turn-off, it's advisable to hire a guide or arrange for local transport to navigate the last few kilometers to the mountain.
Walking
If you prefer to hike, you can walk from the turn-off for Chibunji Mountain. However, be prepared for a challenging hike. The distance from the turn-off to the mountain base is about 5 kilometers, and the trail can be steep and rugged. Ensure you have enough water and wear appropriate footwear. This option is best suited for experienced hikers who are familiar with mountain terrain.
